Why recycled polyester?
Do you know five bottles of soda are enough to create one extra-large T-shirt.
Producing and using recycled polyester instead of Virgin polyester has many benefits. It diverts the non- biodegradable plastic waste from entering landfills and water bodies, thereby preventing the harm caused to marine life. It reduces the use of virgin materials like petroleum and natural gas which are used to produce virgin polyester thereby, significantly lowering greenhouse gas emission and carbon footprint. The energy required to produce recycled polyester is less than what is needed to make virgin polyester. While producing recycled polyester about 54% less CO2 emissions are generated and 70% less energy is required as compared to virgin polyester.
Garments created from recycled polyester aim to be continuously recycled with no degradation of quality, allowing us to minimize wastage. This means polyester garment manufacture could potentially become a closed-loop system.
