What is cotton?
Cotton is a natural cellulosic fiber obtained from the seed of the cotton plant. The cotton fibers are basically seed hair. Cotton fiber is biodegradable and each part of cotton plant has some of the other use such as cotton lint (fibers) are used to make fabric for various purposes, cotton linters (short fuzz on the seed) is used for making batting for padding mattress, cushion for furniture and the cellulosic raw material is employed in the paper industry. Cottonseed obtained from the ginning process is used for the extraction of seed oil and lastly, the leaves are used as fodder or as soil enrichers.
Cotton is a highly versatile fabric and is the most preferred for the fact that it is breathable, durable, comfortable and can blend easily with other fibers.
