What are the environmental impacts of pina fiber?

< All Topics

The pina fabric is a 100% eco-friendly and biodegradable fiber but what lags behind is its easy accessibility. Since pina fabric is extracted from the waste pineapple leaves it helps to build an eco-conscious planet.

According to the data available, 59,000 hectares of pineapple cultivation provides about 55,483 metric tons of pina fiber in the Philippines. But still the pina fabric is not easily available owing to the labour-intensive process involved both in cultivation and production as a result the cost of the fiber increases. Thus, there is a need to develop ways that could increase production and not only that more marketing and promotion is also needed.

Also, the highlight of the fiber is that it is extracted from the waste and so it helps to reduce the amount of litter that would have otherwise been generated.
