Taiwan’s Eclat Textile to upgrade capacity of its two factories in Vietnam

Eclat Textile, major Taiwanese technology-based textile company, professional functional and flexible knitwear fabric producer and apparel manufacturer plans to increase its production capacity in Vietnam, to gain benefits from the Trans-Pacific Partnership free trade pact.

The company will invest $50.5 million to upgrade two factories of which $40 million will go to a factory in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province and $10.5 million to a plant in Dong Nai province. Construction will start in early 2016.

The expanded capacity will top 5 million pieces of clothing per month.

The Union Ministry of Textiles urged to facilitate opening of common selling offices or facilitation centres in China to encourage close interaction among Indian industrialists and prevent buyers exploiting them, said Indian Texpreneurs Federation (ITF) secretary D Prabhu Dhamodharan in a memorandum to the Ministry Secretary S K Panda.

Common selling centres were necessary as Chinese yarn buyers and traders, as a cartel, have been crushing Indian yarn manufacturers in recent times. To counter them and this would strengthen the Indian buyers' position with constant market intelligence.

Lint market stood positive during trading session as buyers made deals for all grades of lint, they also made forward deals for a month period amid strong spot rate. The Karachi Cotton Association (KCA) kept spot rate of Rs5,400 per maund.

The sellers remained in driving seat as they ask price on their own terms on growing demand of all grades that kept market sentiments on higher side despite shrinking domestic fine stocks, floor brokers said.

Majority of the ginning units produced second grade lint to around 4,000 bales out of total output of around 9,600 bales on higher demand.

China top buyer of cotton from India cutting in imports depressing prices, India will be forced to make large-scale government cotton purchases from farmers for a second straight year. In the marketing year that ended on Sept.30, India spent 160 billion Indian rupees ($2.5 billion) to buy 8.7 million bales of cotton at a government-set minimum support price (MSP), against just 400,000 bales in the previous year.

Nylon yarn price climbs up gradually in China

In China, semi-dull FDY70D/24F prices were up US cents 2 a kg in the second week of October while FDY40D were steady.

Nylon DTY 70D/24F prices rolled over and DTY 30D/10F remained unchanged.

Monofilament 30D was up US cents 9 a kg and 1.5D staple fiber edged down US cent 1 a kg.

Nylon filament yarn prices saw rises on existing losses while non-textile yarn prices remained range bound due to high operating cost on stable prices of caprolactum and nylon chips.

Caprolactum price declines amid thin trade

In the second week of October, Asian markers, the SE and FE were down US$30 a ton while trading values for East European goods were stable.

Sinopec announced contract settlement for October at 11,200 Yuan a ton (US$1,765 a ton) for liquid goods while DSM Nanjing nominated October at 11,600 Yuan a ton (US$1,825 a ton) for solid goods.

October contract nominations for high-end goods were not announced.

Caprolactum prices were flat to down as demand thinned while upstream feedstock benzene markets were recovering. Downstream buyers were cautious amid mounting inventory.

Textile machinery manufacturers to participate in Italian trade mission
