Co-optex introduces linen shirts under the brand LICO

Co-optex, the Tamil Nadu Handloom Weavers’ Cooperative after experimenting with organic shirts has introduced linen shirts for men marketed under the brand name LICO — standing for Linens by Co-optex. The shirts are available in two ranges, linen by linen and linen by cotton.

The yarn for the shirts is being procured from marketing agencies in the domestic linen yarn segment, said its managing director T.N. Venkatesh.

Textile spinning sector looking at ways and means to conserve energy have now turned their attention to carbon-reinforced composite of spindle and drums. Indian Texpreneurs’ Federation (ITF) Secretary D Prabhu said that a good number of ITF members inked an agreement with Mantex for exclusive use of Mantex tubes in its ring frames.

As the ITF members were impressed with the presentative given by Atul Guglani, Managing Director of Mantex here recently highlighting the effectiveness of using carbon composites in the spindle of textile mills.

Price and trade turnover at cotton market remained stable as the gap between demand and supply narrowed down significantly and with mills and spinners continued purchasing on Thursday ahead of Ashura holidays. In the ready business, over 16,000 bales of cotton changed hands between Rs 4750 and Rs 5600, dealers said.

The official spot rate was static at Rs 5350. While in Sindh, seed cotton prices were unchanged at Rs 2600 and Rs 3000 and in Punjab rates also depicted no change at Rs 2800 and Rs 3100, dealers said.
