Polyester spun yarn price surges in Pakistan

In Pakistan, 30s spun polyester prices were up US cents 32 a kg on the month.

In the third week of October, producers in Pakistan continued to sell in small batches, and both domestic and export markets reported poor performance.

Players had weak confidence on the future sentiment, and buying interest was low, mainly for rigid demand.

In India, polyester yarn 30 knitting yarns prices were up US cents 2 a kg in the third week of October in Ludhiana market while they were steady in Indore market.

PTA price declines amid weak market sentiment

Asian PTA prices moderated US$12 a ton CFR China in the third week of October.

In China, suppliers kept offers at US$620-640 a ton, and buyers pegged counter offers at US$590-600 a ton.

Some deals concluded at US$600-610 a ton, midweek.

Yisheng Petrochemical’s cash-based prices for this week were in the range of US$630-640 a ton, while Hengli Petrochem issued self-lifting offers in the range of US$640-645 a ton.

Asian purified terephthalic acid markets, which had firmed up after the National Day holiday in China, saw prices down in that week.

This Diwali, textile retailers to see a turnaround in their sales with customer spending rising. This season spending per customer per piece of clothing has risen to ₹500 from ₹200 last year also the online sales are picking up as well. The number of online orders for this season is around 5,000 as compared to 2,000-3,000 last year, said Velmurugan A, Manager, The Chennai Silks, a textile retail chain.

Italy sees decline in textile machinery orders

According to the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT), textile machinery orders saw a drop of 2% in the third quarter of 2015 as compared to the same period last year.

The value of the orders index for textile machinery stood at 86.9 points (basis 2010=100) for the period ranging from July to September 2015.

The orders in the foreign market declined abruptly after four consecutive periods of growth. The index of orders has decreased by 4% as compared to the same period last year.

Indonesia President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo on monday expressed Indonesia’s intention to join the TPP while delivering a speech before representatives from a number of US companies. But according to economist Ina Primiana, government need to carefully reconsider the long term impact of joining the US-led Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) since the cooperation was deemed not necessarily beneficial for the country.

Ina said that when it comes to international trade agreements, they should really consider the benefits and impacts more widely.

Pakistan’s exports to EU which had reached $7.52bn in calendar year 2014 from $6.22bn over 2013, an increase of 21.24pc in the first year of GSP plus scheme is showing marginal increase in its growth. According to EU official data, Pakistan’s garments exports to EU reached $1.463 billion in January-July 2015 from $1.437bn over the corresponding period of last year.

ASF price remains stable in Asia

In the third week of October, offers for cotton-type staple fiber in China were stable at US$2.11-2.23 a kg while medium-length staple were at US$2.12-2.22 a kg.

Taiwan origin 3D bright ASF tow was US cents 20 cheaper with offers at US$1.70-1.92 a kg. They were last revised down only in last week of September.

Jilin Chemical Fiber’s list prices for 1.5D were down for October at US$2.23 a kg, 3D medium-length at US$2.22 a kg, tow at US$2.30 a kg and top at US$2.44 a kg.

Acrylonitrile price plunges in US and Europe

In US, export assessment fell US$35 a ton FOB USG in the third week of October.

Acrylonitrile export assessment in US continued to plunge as demand waned rapidly.

European acrylonitrile spot price declined US$52 a ton CIF Mediterranean on the week.

Acrylonitrile prices in Europe declined further on weak demand and poor cost support.

In China, spots offers remained unchanged.

Acrylonitrile markets in Asia were steady and prices remained flat on the week, although upstream propylene prices jumped 14 per cent during the week.
