Leading buyers remained grade conscious at cotton market

Leading buyers at cotton market remained grade conscious and only made deals on slightly higher price according to their immediate need of lint. Selective buying in lint market kept physical prices firm, said traders at the Karachi Cotton Association (KCA) on Monday.

During the trading session, mills in Sindh and Punjab stations purchased all grades on cautious note as grade issue was continue. Traders offered all grades of lint on bargaining rates at around Rs 4,675 per maund to Rs 4,975 per maund in order to capitalise maximum returns on their proceeds, floor brokers said.

Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC), Bangladesh Jute Spinners Association (BJSA) and Bangladesh Jute Mills Association (BJMA) hailed the government decision for imposing a month-long ban on raw jute export aiming to make the implementation of the Mandatory Use of Jute Product Labeling Law (MJPL) 2010 a success.

The ban has been slapped to increase supply of the fibre for local jute bag and sack-makers, an official at the Ministry of Textile and Jute (MoTJ) said.

Cashmere World, the only trade event dedicated exclusively to cashmere and fine fibres, concluded last week as one of the most fruitful show which attracted a large number of qualified, experience buyers and exhibitors, organisers report.

According to organisers, exhibitors were impressed by the value of the visitors who attended their booth. The overall quality of buyers was quite high and well-focused, said Leo Li, Sales Manager of Yaqi Cashmere, Inner Mongolia.

India likely to emerge as largest producer of cotton

Cotton output in all major producing countries in the year has been anticipated to be lower than the previous season. But with domestic trade estimating India ‘s cotton production at around 400 lakh bales, it is likely to emerge as the largest cotton producer in the world in 2015-16.

According to sources in Southern India Mills' Association (SIMA), the apex body of spinners in the Southern Region, China has had to vacate its place as the largest producer of cotton to India.

The Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) has shown reluctance to start procurement process of the season despite directions from Union textile minister for state Santosh Kumar Gangwar on October 1, leaving the market in the hands of private traders as the farmers have started bringing the first lot of cotton harvest to the mandis.

Even Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal had met Gangwar on October 11, appealing him to direct the CCI to start procurement of cotton crop which had come under whitefly attack.

The first Made-in-Pakistan exhibition to introduce Pakistani products in Central Asian Market was held in Dushanbe (Tajikistan) from 29th to 31st Oct organized by Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI).

Three day Made in Pakistan exhibition started with opening ceremony at State Complex Kokhi Borbad followed by Business Forum for entrepreneurs of Tajikistan and Pakistan. Viscose yarn price rolls over in Asia

Spun viscose yarn prices were stable across markets in the fourth week of October.

In China, negotiations for 30S vortex-spun yarn and siro-spun 40S of Fujian origin were steady while compact siro-spun 40S were priced at a roll over.

Order intake for core-spun yarn was good.

40s compact siro-spun yarn in Jiangsu were down US cent 1 a kg while 30s spun viscose in Xiaoshan were up in local currency but down US cent 1 a kg on the week.

In India, demand in domestic market was modest while export demand was down.
