TN yarn manufacturers make investments notch up to fabrics

Tamil Nadu's yarn manufacturers has started making investments to move up their value chain to fabric and win better deals from Indian and foreign buyers with the recent export incentive push by Centre, after facing a high margin pressure on oversupply. The export push included introduction of new products and export target nations to its list of items eligible for support in a move to prop up shipments after a steady decline in exports led to speculation of exports falling behind the previous year's numbers.

Jhartex, a four day textile handloom and handicraft fair will be hosted in the state capital by the state industries department and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) to draw investments in the sector.

Through the fair, the department will showcase the talent poll of the state's artisans and make an attempt to rope in the latest technology in products, fibre and fashions and possible investments through join ventures and strategic alliances.

Textile Commissioner Kavita Gupta after a meeting of the state-run Cotton Advisory Board on Tuesday said that they are expecting higher demand from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Vietnam. This will offset poor demand from China.

India, the world's biggest cotton producer, is likely to export 6.8 million bales in the 2015/16 season, up 18 percent from a year ago as demand from Asia is expected to improve, a senior government official said.

Higher exports will cap global prices, but raise domestic prices and help bring down government purchases at the support price.

Malaysia’s leading trade fashion and lifestyle event, FACIT@INTRADE and Malaysia Fashion Week (MFW) 2015, part of Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade)'s signature event called International Trade Malaysia begins today.

FACIT@INTRADE and MFW 2015, a collaborative effort between Matrade and Malaysian company, Stylo International, features 290 booths with 68 percent Malaysian and 32 percent international businesses from 14 countries.

Caprolactum price falls in China amid cautious buying

In China, liquid good offers were at 11,500-11,600 Yuan a ton (US$1,810-1,825 a ton) while solid goods inched down to 11,400-11,800 Yuan a ton (US$1,790-1,855 a ton, down US$20).

Sinopec pegged its contract settlement for October at 11,300 Yuan a ton (US$1,775 a ton) for liquid goods while DSM Nanjing nominated for October to 11,900 Yuan a ton (US$1,870 a ton) for solid goods.

Asian markers, the SE and FE were up US$20 a ton in the fourth week of October while trading values for East European goods were at US$1,330-1,380 a ton.

Nylon yarn price remains stable in China

In China, semi-dull FDY70D/24F prices in the fourth week of October were up in local currency but unchanged in US terms. FDY40D were also stable.

Nylon DTY 70D/24F prices rolled over on the week and DTY 30D/10F were also steady.

Nylon filament yarn prices remained flat on the week but yarn makers suffered margin losses on recovering raw materials and flagging demand.

In China, producers were considering production cutback to reverse deteriorative margins.

Weeklong handloom expo opens up in Vellore

The Handloom expo was inaugurated by the district collector R Nanthagopal on Monday which has handloom weavers attached to 57 cooperative weavers societies from across the district and some from other district who have set up around 12 stalls to market their products during this festive season.

According to K Selvarajan, assistant director handloom, the week-long expo is held to create public awareness about the handloom products besides helping the weavers to showcase their products and sell them directly to the consumers.

The unit is equipped with a multi-end silk reeling and twisting machine which has the technology from Central Silk Technological Research Institute Bangalore, pioneers in the Silk Industry.

Rajasthan likely to have the highest cotton yield this season

Confederation of Indian Textile Industry’s Cotton Development and Research Association, which has been active in Rajasthan for the past few years, now plans to raise yield there to 1,000 kg per ha. With higher yield, Rajasthan’s production has also increased to around 170,000 bales.

P D Patodia, chairman, CITI standing committee on cotton, said that they had set a target of raising yield to 1,000 kg (per ha). Rajasthan is expected to have the highest cotton yield this season.
