Vietnam, Czech Republic to expand two-way trade, reaching $1bn

Vietnamese and Czech business forum was jointly organized by the VCCI office in Ho Chi Minh City (VCCI-HCMC) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic to seek long-term business partnerships in Ho Chi Minh City.

Thanh, VCCI-HCMC Director at the event spoke highly of the 65-year relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic, saying that the two countries are expanding their cooperation in all fields, particularly trade and investment.

Under the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement which concluded recently although the textiles and apparel chapter of the agreement is programmed with a strict yarn-forward rule of origin (ROO), it is certain that the 12 TPP countries will have the privilege of lower or zero tariff for exporting goods to member countries which is likely to impact the garments and textile sector in Bangladesh.

Mostly the high-duty items under the current import duty structure will come under risk against the preferential duty advantage to be enjoyed by other TPP countries exporting to the USA.

About 180 international manufacturers and exporters are participating in the event, by presenting their products and innovations to trade and sourcing professionals from around the world.

Vietnam Textile & Garment Exhibition (VTG) held in HCM City commenced yesterday and has attracted international exhibitors and buyers from over 15 countries.

Around 125 companies from all over the world have brought machinery for sewing, knitting, spinning, cutting and printing fabrics, processing fibres, and embroidering, garment accessories, dyes and other products in the exhibition.

These firms came from Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey and other countries to display the products and services.

Acrylonitrile prices rolls over in Asia after recent drops

Asian acrylonitrile markers rolled over in the second week of October. In China, spots offers also remained unchanged.

Acrylonitrile prices were flat in Asian markets after plunging in the previous week. In China, almost all major producers offered flat this week.

Downstream demand was lukewarm as run rate in ASF producers was close to 100 per cent.

ABS market remained weak given lusterless demand, and prices dropped for some specs.

Acrylamide producers ran with reduced rates on poor end user demand and thin trades.

ASF price dives in Pakistan on weak demand while inches up in India

In Pakistan, 1.2D ASF prices dropped PakRs.35 a kg or US cents 33 a kg in the second week of October.

ASF prices in Pakistan were seen declining sharply owing to weak demand and receding cost.

In India, ASF offers were flat in local currency, but up US cents 3 a kg due to stronger INR.

Prices in India rolled over on cautious downstream demand. ASF markets are expected to remain range-bound in coming week.

In China, offers for cotton-type staple fiber were stable and medium-length staple prices rolled over.

Taiwan origin 3D bright tow offer pegged at US$1.90-2.12 a kg.
