ASF price remains stable in Asia

In China, offers for cotton-type staple fiber were steady at US$1.95-2.07 a kg in the second week of November while medium-length staple were at US$1.96-2.07 a kg.

Jilin Chemical Fiber’s list prices for November was stable with 1.5D at US$2.07 a kg, 3D medium-length at US$2.06 a kg, tow at US$2.14 a kg and top at US$2.28 a kg.

Taiwan origin 3D bright ASF tow prices were pegged at US$1.65-1.80 a kg.

Acrylic staple fibre prices generally rolled over as upstream, acrylonitrile prices continued to rise on the back of tight supply.

Acrylonitrile price climbs across regions

Asian acrylonitrile marker climbed further US$10 a ton CFR Far East Asia and Southeast Asia in the second week of November.

In China, offers for offshore cargoes stood at US$1,000-1,030 a ton.

Acrylonitrile prices rose in Asian markets on tight supply and higher prices in China. However the CFR Southeast Asia and CFR South Asia markers remained unchanged on the week amid weak buying sentiment as end-users reduced operating rates or delayed buying decisions on expectations of weaker prices in January.

MEG price slips in Asia while rose in Europe

Asian MEG markers fell US$25 a ton CFR China and Southeast Asia CFR in the second week of November.

In China, central prices slipped below US$600 a ton, with some deals done at low levels.

Mono ethylene glycol prices declined in Asian markets as bearish outlook triggered short-selling amid weak PET and polyester markets. However, issues at Nan Ya MEG plant stemmed price fall.

In China, environmental regulations in Suzhou pushed MEG markets on a downslide.

Paraxylene price slumps across all regions

Asian paraxylene markers fell US$19 a ton FOB Korea and CFR Taiwan/China in the second week of November.

Paraxylene prices declined in Asian market weekend and on the week amid both weaker upstream and downstream.

Isomer-mixed xylene was flat amid thin trading as December ICE Brent crude futures were lower over the same period.

In Europe, both paraxylene and orthoxylene prices fell on week, tracking drop in Asia while mixed xylene also declined amid steady PTA.

Paraxylene spot in Europe declined US$19 a ton while mixed xylene dropped US$44.50 on week.

Cotton procurement commences in Maharashtra

Government agencies have commenced cotton procurement in Maharashtra. The Maharashtra State Co-Operative Cotton Growers Marketing Federation (MSCCGMF) has said it has procured around 39641 quintals so far this season.

At the beginning of season, the federation had said that it was ready to procure up to 100 lakh quintals as against the 27 lakh quintals it had purchased last season.

Around 34732 quintals of cotton has been procured from Nagpur and 4929 quintals from Aurangabad, said NP Hirani, chairman of the federation.

Another 33,000 quintals has been procured by traders, he said.
