Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (Prgmea) Chief Coordinator Ijaz A Khokhar urged the prime minister to intervene and frame a policy for a reduction in input costs, otherwise industrial units would not only close down, but millions of workers would also lose their jobs. The government need to address the problems of the value added textile industry sector on an urgent basis as there is a sharp drop seen in the current exports of textile and clothing during the first four month (July-October) of 2015 which may widen further in the next quarter.

Edinburgh Woollen Mill (EWM) a Scottish fashion retailer that also owns the budget fashion chain Peacocks which already has more than 1,000 stores, is one of the largest retail business in Britain as part of its major expansion initiative plans to open 100 new stores over the next two year of brands such as The Edinburgh Woollen Mill and Peacocks, which will also lead to the creation of 800 jobs in the current fiscal year.

Out of the 1,000, 71 stores were added this year. The expansion reiterates the group's focus tabled in 2013, to create more than 1,100 stores over 18 months.

Cotton ginners are in a fix as export demand is less as major buyers like China have not turned up this time. Rajasthan has not just emerged as a textile hub over the last few decades which provides direct and indirect jobs to nearly seven lakh people and contributes 17percent to the state’s exports but nationally, the state has emerged as the largest producer of polyester viscose yarn and synthetic suiting material in the country with Bhilwara becoming the leading centre.

Polyester yarn prices stable to down in Asia

In Qianqing, offers for 32s polyester yarn were down US cents 2-3 a kg in the second week of November.

Spun polyester yarn markets were mixed that week despite prices did not change in the first week while offers were adjusted lower and sporadic deals were concluded.

In China, polyester yarn markets were looking for a direction, although signs are emerging of a new decline in the coming period.

Export were also sluggish and cheaper prices offered by importers for lower counts usually attracted processors.

PTA price slips after recent gains

Asian PTA marker fell US$3 a ton CFR China and Southeast CFR in the second week of November.

In China, selling indications for cargoes held steady at above US$600 a ton throughout the week with discussions slipping to US$600-605 a ton from US$610 a ton earlier in the week.

Yisheng Petrochemical’s offers were pegged at US$640 a ton throughout this week while Hengli Petrochemical issued self-lifting offers in the range of US$635-640 a ton.

Purified terephthalic acid prices slipped in Asian markets amid bearish sentiment and thin trading.

Spain show interest to improve its trade relation with Pakistan

Spain has shown interest to improve its trade relation with Pakistan, said Carlos Morales, Spanish envoy. He further added that his embassy would be in touch with the chamber to increase the bilateral ties and bridge the gap between the business communities of both the countries.

He said that Pakistan must take advantages of GSP plus status to capture European trade markets for which they could provide assistance in energy sector in Pakistan especially in wind power as country was facing immense energy crisis.
