Aquafil an Italian nylon yarn producer has partnered with Speedo USA a leading swimwear brand in a take-back program that will see post-manufacturing Speedo swimwear scraps up-cycled into Aquafil's 100 percent regenerated Econyl nylon.

Giulio Bonazzi, chairman and CEO of Aquafil said that they are challenging apparel manufacturers to be more sustainable and restructure their supply chain to divert waste from landfill.

After almost three years and 14 official rounds of talks and many mid-term negotiations between ministers, heads of delegations and technical groups, Vietnam and the EU have reached an agreement on all basic points of the Free Trade Agreement between EU and Vietnam (EVFTA), the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced on Saturday.

The EU will eliminate 99.2 percent of tariff lines for Vietnam, equivalent to 99.7 percent of Vietnamese export turnover with the remainder of export turnover enjoying zero-duty tariff rate quotas.

Southern India Mills' Association (SIMA), apex body of spinners in this region, has convened a meeting of its member mills here on August eight to discuss various problems faced by spinning sector and decide on future course of action to mitigate the crisis.

Considering the situation, the association has convened the meeting of the Managing Directors of the member mills to discuss the issues and arrive at a solution to tide over the crises, Sima Chairman T Rajkumar said.

The National Handloom Day was celebrated in Vijayawada in a colourful manner with weavers exhibiting their best work, attracting scores of people to have a second look at them and appreciate the workmanship. On this occasion, Minister for Textiles and Handlooms Kollu Ravindra said that the government of Andhra Pradesh plans to announce a Rs 125-crore loan waiver scheme which would benefit about 2.80 lakh weavers from the state.

Apart from this the state it is also considering a plan to provide interest free loans to weavers to promote the traditional handloom sector.

Cotton business remains dull in Pakistan with further drop in prices and not much stocks of new crop cotton (2015-16) remain unsold with ginners.
