Sales to Asian markets help Ciel Textile achieve 27pc rise in profit

Mauritian clothing manufacturer Ciel Textile has reported a 27% rise in full-year pretax profit to 827.20 million rupees ($23.31 million), thanks to its expansion in Asia which have helped rise sales to Asian markets Internationalisation of operations and expansion in Asia remain the major strategic focus of the group, the company said.

The supplier of knitwear to Britain's Marks & Spencer and Next and Spain's Inditex reported revenue for the year to June 30 of 10.11 billion rupees from 9.56 billion rupees a year ago. Market conditions in Europe and South Africa remain challenging.

US Clothing and Apparel segment to rise by another 5% over rest of 2015

Nylon yarn price declines in China

In China, semi-dull FDY70D/24F prices edged down US cent 1 a kg in the third week of September while FDY40D declined US cents 4 a kg. Nylon DTY 70D/24F prices were stable while DTY 30D/10F were down US cents 7 a kg. Monofilament 30D was stable and staple fiber 1.5D was up US cent 1 a kg.

Caprolactum price climbs up in China

In China, liquid goods offer remained flat and discussions were up US$20-30 a ton in the third week of September. Solid goods edged up US$50 a ton. Asian markers, the SE and FE were down US$20 a ton.

Sinopec revised its September contract price which was up US$50 a ton from earlier nomination for liquid goods while DSM Nanjing’s nomination also edged up US$50 a ton from previous one for solid goods.

Caprolactum prices slightly moved down on the week as benzene prices tumbled across regions and despite mild rebound in demand.

Government approves 7 textile parks in Rajasthan

In order to create employment and attract investment, government has approved seven textile parks in Rajasthan under the scheme for integrated textile parks (SITP), said Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Union Minister of State for Textile.

Pointing that the textile industry of India is moving in the right direction, he further stated that seven textile parks have been approved with an assistance of Rs 40 crore for each SITP to Rajasthan.

Cotton production likely to see a drop by 10-15 lakh bales during 2015-16

The Ministry of Textiles has introduced a new guideline for the registration of importers. Zimbabwean cotton growers has been advised to start registering for the 2015-16 farming season by the Agricultural Marketing Authority. AMA said that every farmer was required to register at the common buying points before the deadline of December 15, 2015.

The registration is done in line with Statutory Instrument 142 of 2009 as amended in Statutory Instruments 63 of 2011 and 148 of 2012.
