A National Level Special Handloom Expo, a 14 day expo started on Tueday sponsored by Development Commissioner (Handlooms) under Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. The Exp was formally inaugurated by Soma Bhattacharji, Commissioner of Textiles and Sericulture, Government of West Bengal.

TCP’s sixth cotton tender scraped on nil participation

Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) once again at its sixth cotton tender announced to offload cotton stock procured from the domestic market to facilitate the farmers did not fetch a single bid. It failed to attract textile mills and trader for cotton procurement, textile mills were reluctant to procure cotton from the state-run grain trader. Previously , TCP not received a single bid in the fifth cotton tender too, which was opened on September 14, 2015.

SIMA welcomes RBI’s effort for repo rate cut will benefit textile industry

Southern India Mills’ Association (SIMA) chairman M Senthilkumar welcomed the RBI’s effort for reduction of repo rate by 50 basis points to bring it at 6.75 percent. The move will benefit capital-intensive industries such as textiles to improve its competitiveness.

The textile industry had been seeking reduction in interest rates. With reduction in interest rate, the industry will be able to invest more and make the ‘ Make in India’ vision a reality. He appreciated efforts made by the RBI in bringing the guideline for base rate so that the banks follow a uniform procedure.

The third edition of the Indian textile exhibition in Egypt (INTEXPO EGYPT) began on October 1 at Cairo International Conference Centre which will run through till October 4 where 33 participating Indian companies will showcase their latest range of yarn and fabrics, which includes suitings, shirtings, dress materials, and embroidered fabrics/high fashion fabrics, furnishing, home textiles, scarves, stoles, shawls and yarns of man-made fibre and their blends.

A conference entitled Garment and Textile – Opportunities and Challenges, focusing on integration was held in Ha Noi yesterday as the development of Vietnam's garment and textile industry was behind other countries. Moreover, many domestic garment and textile companies would face more challenges from large rivals following integration.

Tran Quang Nghi, chairman of the National Garment and Textile Group (Vinatex), speaking at the conference said that a shortage of capital and backwards technology, along with weak management capacities, had created difficulties for the businesses.

Zambai, currently has only two factories operating by the names of Sakiza and Kariba but these are not enough to promote the export of essential goods and services to other countries. Acrylic staple fibre market in Asia remains stable

In the third week of September, offers for cotton-type staple fiber in China rolled over from last week. Taiwan origin 3D bright tow offer declined US cents 18-22 a kg.

Jilin Chemical Fiber’s list prices for September was flat at August with 1.5D at US$2.46 a kg, 3D medium-length at US$2.45 a kg, tow at US$2.53 a kg and top at US$2.67 a kg.

In China, mainstream ASF producers maintained stable offers while buying in downstream yarn sector was need based with low run rates. However, overall negotiation atmosphere remained lackluster, citing concerns over ASF market development.

Acrylonitrile price dives as demand weakens

In the third week of September, Asian acrylonitrile markers fell US$15-25 a ton both CFR Far East Asia and Southeast Asia. In China, spots offers were down US$100 a ton.

Acrylonitrile prices in Asian markets were under falling cost pressure amid weak demand. Upstream propylene prices continued to soften, with further drops expected. While there were few cargoes arriving ports, markets were well supplied.

Run rate at ASF units was close to 100 per cent while ABS prices inched down. Acrylamide producers ran at reduced rates on poor end user demand and thin trades.
