Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa at the state assembly on Tuesday announced that the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) will be setting an integrated textile processing park at a cost of INR 150 crore in Thiruvadanai at Ramanathapuram district.

Thirty textile-related companies would come up in the 224-acre textile park at an estimated expenditure of Rs450 crore, giving direct employment to 6,000 people. It would also have 1 crore litre capacity desalination plant to meet the water requirements.

Cheap Chinese clothes imports almost broke the back of local garment makers, but the sector has started to recover after the government invested more than 2 billion rand ($149 million) in upgraded production lines and more innovative technology. South African retailers are now working more closely with a resurgent domestic textile industry to help keep away global fashion giants muscling in on the continent’s most lucrative market.

Italy’s Chamber of Fashion has announced that industry revenues for 2015 are estimated to reach €64.2 billion (or about $71.8 billion) a 5 percent higher than the prior year. According to its Fashion Economic Trends study, the report revealed that last year, the country's industry brought in a total of €61.2 billion (or about $68.5 billion at current exchange).

GoTex Show, the biggest and most complete Brazilian Textile Fair kicked off yesterday 29th Sept 2015. This year, the Gotex Fair has entered into its third edition. The fair aims to strengthen exchanges between companies and textile professionals from different countries, promoting the exchange of information and technology.

In the third week of September, Asian MEG prices gave back US$14 a ton both CFR China and Southeast Asia. In China, offers for nearby-month cargoes were at US$705-710 a ton, with counter offers at US$700 a ton, and deals were talks concluded at US$705 a ton.

Mono ethylene glycol prices in Asian markets declined on the week, hit by weak market sentiment amid bearish futures market in China and rising local supplies. Overall demand was weaker although downstream polyester demand was still strong.

Asian paraxylene markers fell US$12 a ton on the week a ton both FOB Korea and CFR Taiwan/China in the third week of September. Feedstock isomer-grade mixed xylenes fell US$13 a ton FOB.

Paraxylene prices in Asian markets fell for the second consecutive week on weaker upstream and as weeklong National Holidays in China draw closer.

Crude oil futures also dipped for the third week in a row while downstream PTA futures for January also closed lower on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange. Asian isomer-grade mixed xylenes fell on keen selling interest.
