TCNS Clothing, contemporary ethnic wear firm that owns the W and Aurelia brands, are looking at 50 percent increase in their top line growth and scale up its sales in the current fiscal. They have set a target of achieving Rs 1,000 crore turnover by 2017 fiscal for which they will be offering new innovative product, add new stores and increase online sales.

Viscose price goes up in China while down in India

In China, 30s compact siro-spun yarn in Jiangsu was up US cents 3 a kg in the fourth week of September while rayon weaving yarn 30s in Xiaoshan edged up US cent 1 a kg on the week.

Spun viscose yarn prices were stable to higher while selling ideas were reported stable. The markets were supported by the uptrend in viscose staple fibre prices while supply tightness remained unresolved.

Prices in India weakened sharply during the week although VSF prices held steady trend since Early May. The fall largely reflected weak demand, both in domestic as well as export markets.

Blended yarn price edges down in India

With cotton prices falling sharply in India and downward revision in polyester fibre prices earlier in September, blended spun yarn prices moderated in similar proportion in the fourth week of September. PC yarn prices fell 2.6 per cent week on week while PV yarns were cheaper by INR 1 a kg.

In India, 30s (65/35) PV yarn prices unchanged due to strong INR in Indore market. PC 30s (52/48) prices fell US cents 4 a kg on the week in Ludhiana market.

In Qianqing, PC (65/35) 32s yarn prices were flat on the week while 21s down US cent 1 a kg on the week.

Lorry strike troubles the textile business

The nation-wide strike by lorry owners, which started on Thursday, created problems for textile business as well. The textile product movement to and from the units faced hindrances because of the strike.

Few mills that had imported cotton found it difficult to transport it to the unit from the port due to the strike, said M. Senthilkumar, Chairman of Southern India Mills’ Association.

Likewise, exporters were unable to dispatch the products from their units. The Centre should intervene immediately, he said.

The cotton segment, spinning and weaving segments have been suffering from April 2014 onwards due to glut in the export market caused due to policy changes in China and the duty structure in EU, China and the Americas, said M. Anantha Reddy, General Secretary, The Telangana Spinning & Textile Mills Association (TSTMA).

To address their concerns on a priority basis to ensure that good thriving mills do not face closure due to adverse external factors, TSTMA has called upon the Central Government.

The fall in consumption in China, the largest cotton-using country in the world is likely to affect the Bangladeshi spinning sector in two ways. Firstly, the slide in consumption will lower the prices of raw cotton worldwide further, which will also narrow the profit margins in Bangladesh. Secondly, other countries will break into the local yarn market as they will be able to supply the raw materials at cheaper rates.
