Pak textile industry disturb with OEKO-TEX(r) cancelling certification

Chairman of All Pakistan Bedsheets and Upholstery Manufacturers Association (APBUMA) Syed Muhammad Aasim Shah has expressed concern over the situation arising out of the sudden cancellation of OEKO-TEX standard-100 certification.

With OEKO-TEX standard-100 suddenly cancelling the certification of manufacturers of yarn, dyed items, export of millions of rupees to different countries particularly European Union have been suspended and some exporters have to unload their consignments from the containers due to cancellation of certification.

Hennes & Mautitz AB (H&M), Swedish multinational retail-clothing company, known for its fast-fashion clothing for men, women, teenagers and children plans to open an additional 240 new stores this year. In the third quarter, H&M opened 36 new stores, but in the fourth quarter 240 new stores are scheduled to open, most of which will be in China and the US. H&M already has 299 locations in China, but growth in the country’s apparel industry makes it a promising hotbed for retailers.

Sandler AG, a German-based textile supplier to international manufacturers plans to make its first foray into the North American market for which they have chosen Perry. They plan to build a manufacturing plant in Houston County. This was announced on Thursday by the Houston County and Georgia officials.

Sandler AG, a privately held, family-owned company will bring $ 30 million and more than 140 jobs to the County’s economy, according to a release from Gov. Nathan Deal’s office.

Lint prices remained firm to tight during first half of this week
