Makalot to expand production capacity of its existing plant

Makalot Industrial Co, Taipei based Apparel Company in a bid to expand production capacity of their existing plants in Vietnam and Indonesia aims to make investment from US$5 billion to US$10 billion on capital expenditure this year.

The company spokesman David Lieu said that as Makalot follows its business strategy to diversify operational risks plans to raise its existing plants production capacity in both countries.

Factories in Vietnam contributed 34 percent of Makalot’s total capacity last year, while those in Indonesia took up 32 percent.

Acrylonitrile prices surge amid rising propylene cost

Asian ACN prices surged US$5-20 a ton CFR Far East Asia in the last week of January while Southeast Asia gained US$5 a ton on the week. In India, ACN prices held stable at lower end during the week.

The Myanmar union minister for industry, Khin Maung Cho plans to develop the 127 acres of land in No.1 Garment Factory located in Shwe Taung, Bago Region, into a Specialized Textile and Garment Zone (STGZ) where goods will be produced that meet international standards.

The project will be divided into two phases. As part of the first phase, the ministry is working with a Japanese company to do a feasibility study. The second phase will involve the development of 127 acres of land into STGZ.
