Reda Italian textile firm plans to double its requirement for Australian wool

Reda Italian high end fabric and clothing manufacturer based in Biella in northern Italy recently presented a business plan outlining its future wool requirements. The manufacturer will be doubling the amount of wool it buys in the next six years, mainly benefiting the Australian wool growers.

Of the 22,000 bales of greasy wool it uses, 80 percent is sourced from Australian wool growers. However, superfine wool prices in Australia have been at their highest in more than five years.

Viscose yarn price inches up in India

In China, offers for ring‐spun 30s weaving yarn in Xiaoshan were flat in the last week of January, while compact siro‐spun 40s yarn in Jiangsu was up US cents 2 a kg on the week. Viscose yarn spinners gradually wrapped up their business in China that week, indicating growing holiday atmosphere. Offers for viscose yarn were generally mixed with some specs rolling over while some gaining.

Blended yarn prices steady in China, up in India

In Qianqing, PC (65/35) 32s yarn prices rolled over in the last week of January while 45s PC combed yarn prices were stable on the week. Blended yarn prices were seen gaining grounds owing to rising cotton and cotton yarn prices. In China, yarn markets were generally shutting down for Lunar New Year holidays while imports continued rebounding in recent months.

Uzbekistan’s cotton fiber processing volume has reached 40 percent in 2016, while in 1991 it was seven percent only, according to the Ministry of economy of Uzbekistan. By 2020 all available capacities of cotton fiber are to be processed inside Uzbekistan.
