AEPC opens its office at GCCI to boost apparel exports from Gujarat

The Apparel Exports Promotion Council (AEPC) inaugurated its office in Ahmedabad on Tuesday to boost apparel exports from Gujarat. State chief secretary, JN Singh, along with state principal secretary (education) Sunaina Tomar were present at the inauguration ceremony on GujaratChamber of Commerce and Industries (GCCI) premises.

On the sidelines of the inauguration, GCCI also announced its international exhibition named 'Farm to Fashion' to promote textile and apparel industry of the state. The exhibition will be held in the second week of March 2018.

Although the Algerian textiles and fashion market is fairly reliant on imports, the government is encouraging domestic manufacturing and will be hosting the second edition of the International Textile and Fashion Fair - Textyle-Expo in April 2018 in Oran, Algeria.

Concurrently with the expo, a conference will take place in the Wahran Room of the Le Méridien Hotel. It will feature discussions on fashion, technology and markets with local and international industry specialists.

Turkish textile company Ormo opens a yarn production factory with a footprint of 12,700 square metres in Lebane, in southern Serbia. The factory is operated by Ormo's Serbian subsidiary LebanTeks and currently has 130 employees, the Serbia’s economy ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

The factory of Ormo occupies the premises of insolvent state-owned company Eksportekst. The government invested 200 million dinars ($2 million/1.7 million euro) in the overhaul of the facilities, the economy ministry said.

During the Parliament’s local administration committee’s meeting held to discuss a complaint regarding the misuse of state’s lands affiliated with a spinning and weaving company in Beheira governorate. The government has come up with a five year plan to develop spinning and weaving companies in northern Egypt, said Head of the Cotton and Textile Industries Holding Company Ahmed Mostafa on Wednesday.

According to the complaint, these lands were being sold and leased for personal purposes. Mostafa agreed that there was a misuse of these lands and that the issue was under investigation.
