Viscose yarn price rolls over in Asian markets

In Jiangsu, 40s compact sirospun yarn prices rolled over in the third week of June while 30s spun viscose in Xiaoshan remained unchanged on the week. Offers for ring-spun 30s yarn were down US cents 5 a kg on the week.

Spun viscose yarn market performance appeared soft that week in China as upstream VSF prices for medium‐end goods inched up while high‐end goods rolled over. However, offers for ring-spun 30s yarn moderated on demand squeeze while offers for other specs were largely flat.

Indonesian Industry Ministry, Saleh Husin is encouraging its textile industries order to develop or diversify products for fashion needs. In a press release on Saturday, Industry Minister said that diversification is a strategic move because of the current development of the market demand for raw material for fashion products is relatively high.

Unfortunately, he added that most of the raw materials are imported.

Although short supply of cotton to some extend slowed down the trading activity at the cotton market yet brisk trading was seen on Friday amid strong demand from spinners. Cotton brokers said that increasing interest of Indian spinning mill owners in Pakistani cotton has accelerated the local market.

The Karachi Cotton Asso¬ciation, however, reduced its spot by Rs50, to Rs5,550 per maund.

According to cotton brokers, July will be very crucial month in connection with the cotton as there is an increasing trend in the prices of cotton in the Indian cotton market.
