Japanese acrylic fiber exports plunge as China imposes anti dumping duty

Chinese authorities reached a preliminary decision in April that Japanese, South Korean and Turkish companies were dumping acrylic fibers on the country. With the anti dumping duties imposed by China, leading manufacturers to re-evaluate their production strategies and potentially even raise prices at home due to which Japanese acrylic fiber exports have started plunging.

Toray Industries, Mitsubishi Rayon and Japan Exlan face an extra 16-18 percentage points in tariffs, about two to three times more than the duties levied on their South Korean and Turkish competitors.

UK’s decision to exit from the European Union which in turn impacted the currency, worries exporters from the tiny town of Tirupur as many of the exporters exports around Rs26,000 crore of knitwear. According to A Saktivel, president, Tirupur Exporters Association, it will be temporary but in the long run this will help them since UK will support more which it could not when it was part of the EU.

EU is a major destination for readymade garments (RMG) export from India. In 2015-16, total RMG exports from India was Rs 1,11,236 crore, of which EU's share was 36.97%.

Moderate trading activity was witnessed at the cotton market with strong physical price. Buyers made a month forward deals for all grades on bargaining prices at around Rs 5,125 per maund during the trading session,said floor brokers.

The Karachi Cotton Association (KCA) spot rate gained strength and closed at Rs 5,600 per maund.

According to senior trader, Ghulam Rabbani, leading buyers were eager for fine grades and even paying slightly higher price on the back of growing demand of cloth and yarn and also as import was costly comparing to domestic price.

India contracts import of cotton bales from Pak at lower than local prices

Indian cotton prices have jumped up by 28 percent since the start of 2015/16 season on Oct. 1 to 40,800 rupees per 356 kg candy (77.4 cents per lb) as two years of drought took its toll on output due to which India, the world's biggest cotton producer, has contracted to import 20,000 bales from Pakistan for shipment this month, , industry officials told Reuters.

Dhiren Sheth, president of the Cotton Association of India (CAI), said that around 20,000 bales have been imported from Pakistan. Landed cost of imported cotton is lower than local prices.

Polyester yarn price declines in India, Pakistan

In Shengze, offers for 32s and 45s polyester yarn rolled over in the second week of June. In Qiangqing, 32s weaving were steady during the week.

Offers for spun polyester yarns in Shengze market were stable amid limited transaction volume. PSF market was mainly covered by wait-and-see atmosphere today, and is expected to have difficulty to see significant price drop or increase in a short term.

PTA price moves up amid rising feedstock price

Asian PTA marker was up US$4 a ton CFR China while the CFR Southeast Asia in the second week of June. In China, offers for nearby-month goods were maintained at US$615-620 a ton, and buying interest was mute.

Purified terephthalic acid prices firmed up in Asian markets amid rising feedstock price and expected supply cuts. China's OPSC will remain shut during G20 summit while Hanbang will shut plants late June.

Textile Ministry await initiative from Odisha to design textile parks plan

The Ministry of Textiles has sanctioned 24 new textile parks for 11 States under the scheme for integrated textile parks (SITP) in the last two years, but Odisha Government is yet to take any initiative to design textile parks plan at Choudwar and Bhadrak.

Union Textiles Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar informed that they have not received any proposal from Odisha Government so far. They have been asking the States to send their proposals and will certainly consider, if any proposal comes from Odisha.
