India, the second most attractive market for global retail brands to expand

Arvind Retail Ltd, largest textile maker in India that sells foreign labels, after seeing sales growth topping its own expectations, now plans to accelerate expansion for the global brands in the Indian market. Arvind sells global brand such as Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica and Ed Hardy. In the year ended 31 March it added four more brands to its portfolio - GAP, Aeropostale, Sephora and The Children’s Place (TCP).

Nylon yarn price remains stable in China

In China, semi-dull FDY70D/24F prices fell US cents 2 a kg in the third week of June while FDY40D were flat on the week.

Nylon DTY 70D/24F prices were unchanged while 30D/10F were stable during the week. Nylon staple fiber 1.5D prices rolled over while monofilament 30D prices were steady on the week.

Nylon filament yarn prices rolled over on the back of flat nylon chip and caprolactum cost, with low‐end goods still available. Producers attempting to hike prices met with resistance.

Caprolactum price moves up Asia

Asian markers, the SE and FE declined US$10-40 a ton in the third week of June. In China, offers for liquid spot rose US$25 a ton while solid goods offers were up US$40 a ton on the week.

Sinopec raised its June nomination for liquid goods while Fibrant also hiked June nomination for liquid goods.

Caprolactum markets were mixed that week as prices firmed in China on the back of range‐bound raw material, while they were subdued in other markets due to weak demand. Both, Sinopec and Fibrant raised their nominations for June, pushed by existing losses.

Turkey and Malaysia’s total trade for the first four month of 2016 was up 60.6 percent on the previous year, a rise from $346.26 million to $555.97 million. However, the two countries are expected to expand bilateral trade by up to 50 percent this year, supported by both countries' strong economic fundamentals, according to a Malaysian trade promotion agency.

While, total trade between Turkey and Malaysia for the year to December 2015 stood at $1.38 billion, with Turkish exports at $451.11 million and imports at $926.61 million.

Union minister of labour and employment Bandaru Dattatreya at a press conference in Hyderabad said that as the Centre has earmarked Rs 6,000 crore as a special package for textile and garment sector to take it on par with Bangladesh and Vietnam, creating textile parks in the country, helping in creation of infrastructure in textile sector, promoting fashion technology so as to give fillip to the production especially in small-scale industries. He urged the Telangana government to submit new proposals for further developing the textile industry and strengthen handloom industry in the state.

China at recent auction on reserve cotton sold 17,500 tonnes of cotton

At the recent auction on reserve cotton initiated by China to fuel domestic mill demand where it sold a total of 17,500 tonnes of cotton on Wednesday. The amount sold represents 97 percent of the total amount of cotton available at Wednesday's auction, and was sold at an average price of 12,230 yuan ($1,859.57) per tonne, according to the cncotton.com website.

A total of 23,200 tonnes was sold at an auction on Tuesday, more than 99 percent of the cotton available, at an average price of 12,202 yuan per tonne, according to the website.

Global yarn production increase by 20pc in first quarter of 2016

With increase in yarn output across Asia by 21 percent and South America by 29 percent, while it saw decreased by four percent in Europe but the global yarn production increased by 20 percent in the first quarter of 2016, compared to 4 percent growth rate in the first quarter of 2015, according to the latest report from the International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF).

India does not see an immediate impact from Brexit on its textile machinery manufacturing as England is not a big buyer of textile machinery and also textile manufacturing moved away from England long ago to China, according to Sanjiv Lathia, Chairman of India ITME Society, the industrial body of Textile Machinery Manufacturers.

Though it is too early to react, but, it has come just two days after new textile policy was announced by the Government of India which focuses on creation of 1crore jobs as well as manufacturing and exports.

Blended yarn price inches up in China

In Qianqing, PC (65/35) 32s yarn prices inched up US cent 1 a kg while 45s PC combed yarn prices rolled over during the week. In China, polyester-cotton prices gained marginally driven by firming cotton prices but limited by sobering PSF values.

In Pakistan, polyester-cotton and polyester-viscose yarn prices remained mostly stable with only 16s and 20s PC falling in the week. PSF prices were stuck at same level on the domestic market while cotton prices showed signs of weakening due to poor demand.
