The U.S. exports of lint cotton to Egypt has increased by 30 percent or USD 12.282 million to reach USD 40 million in the past year compared to USD 27,733 million in 2014 as local textile manufacturers have chosen to rely on U.S. cotton, according to a report published by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) despite global popularity of Egyptian cotton by virtue of the country’s long history in growing the cotton crop.

Indonesian Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto in a press release in Jakarta, Tuesday, September 6, 2016 announced that Chinese investor Jiangsu Dongqun Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd has expressed its intent to invest US$100 million in the development of textile industry and textile products (TPT).

They certainly welcome Jiangsu Dongqun Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd’s intention to invest in Indonesia and has also offered some investment options for the company, such as Kendal Industrial Park, Central Java, boasting its vast area and skilled workforce.

Viscose yarn price moves up due to shutdown of mills

In Jiangsu, 30s spun viscose prices in Xiaoshan rose US cents 2 a kg in the last week of August while 40s compact sirospun yarn prices inched up on the week.

Viscose spun yarn prices increased somewhat in China, mainly due to shutdown of mills in Xiaoshan and Zhejiang ahead of the G20 Summit. Discussions for siro‐spun 40s yarn were mostly hiked while trading prices for ring‐spun 30s yarn were partly located adjusted upwards.

Blended yarn price edges down in China, up in Pakistan

In Qianqing, PC (65/35) 32s yarn prices were down US cent 1 a kg in the last week of August while 45s PC combed yarn prices were stable on the week. 32s PV (65/35) were unchanged during the week. Blended yarn markets were ruled by fibre prices as demand remained insipid amid no supply constraint. However, a stronger US$ pegged prices in US$ terms a tad lower while local markets pricing mostly remained unchanged.
