Trade Minister Amelia Kyambadde at the meeting which took place at Esella Country Hotel in Kira with the Arab investors said that they have a lot of animals in Uganda yet they still import leather products expensively and plastics from countries like China disguised as ‘leather’

DTY 70D/24F prices rose US cents 14 a kg on the week and 30D/10F were up US cents 14-17 a kg on the week. Monofilament 30D prices were up US cents 17 a kg on the week.

Nylon yarn producers in China further hiked offers to ease cost pressure arising from surging caprolactum and nylon chip cost. Downstream converters returned to the market and made more buying.

Asian caprolactum prices moved up US$100 a ton SE and FE in the third week of February while East European goods were also up on the week. In China, liquid caprolactum offers in spot market jumped US$90 a ton while solid goods were also up on the week.

Sinopec raised February contract nomination by US$130 a ton on the week for liquid while Fibrant nominated February which was up US$90 a ton.

In China, offers for ring‐spun 30s weaving yarn in Xiaoshan were up US cents 9 a kg in the third week of February, while compact siro‐spun 40s yarn in Jiangsu was up US cents 6 a kg on the week.

Spun viscose yarn markets trended northbound, in tandem with upstream VSF. In China, offers for ring‐spun 30s yarn mostly increased, with firm deals gradually following up. Many yarn makers were in tight supply.

In India, spinners have suffered from the sharp increase of material costs as a result, with the demonetization process further depressing activities.

In Qianqing, PC (65/35) 32s yarn prices were flat in the third week of February while 45s PC combed yarn prices were up US cents 3 a kg on the week. Blended yarn prices were rising on China's domestic and import markets with PSF and VSF prices sharply increasing in the week.

In Qianqing, PC prices of higher count yarn gained following the end of New Year holidays. Yarn import prices have more sharply increased in the week, adding US cents 3-4 a kg.
