Lealea Enterprise Co., Taipei based one of the largest polyester filament yarn and polyester chip makers in Taiwan, will be setting up its first overseas factory in Indonesia later this year.

Lealea Chairman James Kuo has made investing in Indonesia one of the company’s strategic priorities and set the goal of launching operations at the Indonesian site in the second half of the year, the company said.

Ajay Tamta said that the Ministry of Textiles is working positively on the proposals submitted by Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) on establishing a 'centre of excellence' and a mega textile park at Pinjrat near Olpad.

The government to help the state run entity has sanctioned Tk 2.70 billion in favour of Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC). The BJMC would not utilize the funds other than for the payment of gratuity and wages to its employees and the purpose of purchasing raw jute. The repayment has to be made through account payee cheques.

Now the state-run entity is operating 26 mills, including three non-jute industries. There are seven mills in Dhaka zone, ten in Chittagong and nine in Khulna.
