Jack Wolfskin launches 100% recycled Blizzard jacket

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2021-08-13 08:25:00 – Germany

German engineered outdoor apparel and gear specialist Jack Wolfskin will release the first-ever entirely recycled three-layer men's Blizzard jacket for the Autumn/Winter 2021 season. It'll be paired with a collection of vintage-inspired clothing made with Polartec's 100% recycled material.

For 33 years, Jack Wolfskin has collaborated with Malden Mills, the creator of fleece and Polartec textiles, and Polartec®. Jack Wolfskin began utilizing Malden Mills fleece textiles in 1988, just a few years after its creation in 1981. In 1991, these textiles were renamed Polartec fabrics.

In 1999, Jack Wolfskin introduced the Polartec Recycling Collection, which was one of the first to employ recycled materials on the market. Today, the range is still very strong.

The Polartec Windbloc fabric used in the Blizzard jacket is made entirely of Polartec recycled exterior and inner materials. The waterproof, breathable Jack Wolfskin Texapore Ecosphere membrane, which is also manufactured completely of reused/recycled materials, sits in the middle.

This combination provides exceptional wind protection, warmth, water resistance, and breathability to the wearer. The Blizzard, as its name indicates, is ideal for terrible weather.

The jacket will be part of Jack Wolfskin's new Hike DNA Collection, which combines classic, heritage-inspired designs with cutting-edge, environmentally friendly technology.

Polartec has recycled almost 1.8 billion plastic bottles to date, transforming them into high-quality, long-lasting technical textiles like those worn by Jack Wolfskin.
