Xefco deploys first waterless plasma dyeing system

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2026-04-30 14:32:45 – Indonesia

Xefco has announced the delivery of its first commercial-scale Ausora system to Indonesia. This marks the first time a waterless plasma textile dyeing machine has been deployed at a commercial level anywhere in the world.

This achievement has been supported by a $5 million grant from the Australian Government’s Industry Growth Programme. The funding will help Xefco manufacture its Ausora systems and bring its technology to market. The system removes the need for water and wastewater treatment in textile dyeing, uses 90% less energy than traditional methods, and can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 94%.

Tom Hussey, CEO and co-founder of Xefco, stated that current dyeing processes rely heavily on water and involve high costs and strict regulations within the textile supply chain. He added that the government support reflects growing market demand, with twelve units already committed and installations in progress across key manufacturing regions such as Indonesia and Vietnam.

To support operations, Xefco provides technical assistance through its locally registered, Australian-owned entity in Indonesia, staffed by expert engineers. The company has also established operations in Vietnam and plans further deployments in China and the United States.
