Boyish jeans partners with sustainable swimwear brand Vitamin A

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2021-07-12 11:56:04 – USA

Los Angeles-based sustainable denim brand Boyish Jeans has teamed up with fellow sustainable City of Angels swimwear brand Vitamin A for a low-waste collection of bathing suits and light-wash denim intended for a summer spent by the sea.

The capsule collection comprises six mix-and-match items from Vitamin A’s bestselling swim styles, including a bikini, a one-piece swimsuit with a square neckline, high-waisted jean shorts, and a knotted crop top, all of which are tied together with a summer palette of sky blue and orange.

Jordan Nodarse, the founder of Boyish Jeans, said that their corporate ethics align perfectly. It's a fantastic way for them to collaborate on a small capsule of products, .in areas different than what they both presently offer.

Boyish's bread and butter is ethical California fashion, which is highlighted in this collection. The shorts are made up of 70% OCS-certified organic cotton and 30% Tencel Lyocell, while the top is made up of 70% conventional cotton and 30% GRS-certified recycled cotton.

Despite the fact that swimming is a typically plastic-heavy sport, this collection includes organic alternatives to fossil fuel-based nylon fabrics. BioSculpt, a plant-based polyamide derived from castor beans, makes up 77% of the swimwear, while Lycra spandex makes up 23%.

BioSculpt competes with sustainable swimwear fibers like Mipan Regen Ocean, which is made from abandoned fishing nets collected from across the world. Hyosung, a South Korean fiber producer, produced the material last month.

Boyish Jeans is dedicated to working with ethical factories, using less hazardous chemicals during the dyeing process, conserving water, and incorporating recycled fabrics and materials into their designs.

The company is a supporter of 1 Percent For the Planet, a non-profit organization dedicated to environmental issues. It has committed to providing at least 1% of its annual revenues to groups that share its fundamental principles of sustainability and equality as part of the collaboration. It has also just embarked on a major project to map out its whole supply chain utilizing Retraced GmbH's blockchain-based transparency plugin in order to gain a better understanding of its products' lifecycles.

On the Boyish and Vitamin A websites, the Boyish Jeans x Vitamin A collection is now available. Bathing suits are available in sizes XS-XL, while clothing sizes vary from XXS to XL. Prices range from $78 to $220 at retail.
