Govt to release fourth tranche of Tk 13.75b cash incentives to exporters

The Bangladesh ministry of finance has advised the Chief Accounts Officer of the Finance Division on Thursday to release the funds in favour of the central bank to hand over the cash incentives to the exporters for a period from April 2015 to July 2015.

This will be the last and fourth tranche of cash incentives amounting to Tk 13.75 billion for major exporters for the current fiscal year by the government.

After the huge success of International Textile Fair’s maiden edition, the second season of the two-day ITF kicked off on Sunday with a marked increase in European exhibitors. The ITF was inaugurated by Butti Saeed Al Ghandi, second vice chairman of the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The event began with 150 exhibitors from 20 countries. ITF is seeing the participation of apparel brands, local and international buyers, textile traders, fashion designers and design studios.

The second season of the International Textile Fair (ITF) started on 26 April morning with an inauguration ceremony by H. E. ButtiSaeed Al Ghandi, Second Vice-Chairman of the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). His Excellency made special note of the variety of exhibitors at the fair and expressed appreciation for the organizers and the scale of the event. ITF opened to an overwhelming number of visitors with profiles ranging from apparel brands, local and international buyers, and textile traders to fashion designers, design studios and institutions.

Tirupur garment sector contributes to 11 percent of the State’s export turnover. There is huge potential to double this with friendly-policy interventions for which the textile industry stakeholders in Tamil Nadu have impressed the need for setting up a Textile Board in the State and a separate export policy in line with the Foreign Trade Policy of the Centre for the State.

These were among the 10-point suggestions put forth by knitwear garment exporters in Tirupur for possible incorporation in the new Textile Policy of Tamil Nadu.

The central body of APTMA expressing concern over the steep fall in textile and clothing exports of 16 percent in the month of March due to depreciating Euro has constituted a task force to deliberate upon the gravity of situation, which is squeezing fast the viability of the industry by and large and impacting its exports negatively.

The APTMA task force on “sustainability and way forward” has a strong representation of all sub-sectors including spinning, weaving, processing, home textiles, knitwear, woven garments, towels and synthetic textile.

Nextt, US-based home textile company has decided to participate in the 'Make in India' initiative by launching its products in the country early next year. The company are in discussions with multiple levels of retail channels and hoping to launch their brands in India in the first quarter of 2016. Their manufacturing partnership with Alok Industries gives them an advantage.

The company is suppliers of home textiles, garments, apparel fabrics and polyester yarns to major retailers like Walmart, Kohl's, Dillard's, JCPenney and Target.

Vietnam textile and garment sector aims at total exports of $28bn in 2015

Vietnam textile and garment sector having witnessed good growth in exports in 2014 up by nearly 16 percent reaching $24.5 billion is now aiming at total exports of US$ 28 billion to $28.5 billion in 2015.

Owing to advantages accruing from the FTAs, the textile industry could double the size of production in ten years. However, textile enterprises need to be well prepared for the same.
