Pakistan Fashion Design Council (PFDC) which is currently hosting the eighth edition of Sunsilk Fashion Week in Lahore is paving way to expand their PFDC – The Boulevard franchise in India through the online medium, but seeking offer to come from India, said Sehyr Saigol, the chairperson of the fashion council.

At present, there is just one PFDC-The Boulevard outlet in India located in New Delhi, which opened in 2012, it provides the perfect medium for local designers to present the Pakistani aesthetic to Indian fashionistas.

Mills and spinners kept on the sidelines as ginners were not ready to oblige them in anticipation of rise in prices in times to come. Hence, limited number of deals were finalized on the cotton market on Monday. The official spot rate also remained unchanged at Rs 5300, dealers said.

In the ready session, over 2,000 bales of cotton changed hands between Rs 4300 and Rs 5500 (conditional). The prices of seed cotton in Sindh were at Rs 1900 and Rs 2500 and in Punjab rates were at Rs 2200 and Rs 3000.

Pakistan textile exporters strongly opposing the proposed merger of textile ministry with commerce terming it a negative move which would hurt the pace of growth in textile exports and would push textile industry on back gear.

Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) leaders expressed concerns over the proposed merger of textile ministry into commerce ministry and said that Pakistan has dynamic, vigorous and export-oriented textile industry that has an overwhelming impact on national economy.

Pakistan textile and clothing exports in March 2015 witnessed a negative growth of 16.23 per cent to $1.033 billion from $1.233bn in the same month last year. The fall was witnessed for the second consecutive month, after posting a positive growth of 10.23pc in January 2015 as per Pakistan Bureau of Statistics data.

During the first nine months (July-March) of 2014-15, the exports of textile and clothing also witnessed a negative growth of 1.57pc.

The Southeast Asian nation of Indonesia in the first quarter (Jan to Mar) of 2015, imported US$ 330 million worth of man-made filaments registering a growth of 11.15 percent over imports of $296.9 million made during the corresponding period of 2014, according to the data from Statistics Indonesia.

While, knitted or crocheted fabrics imports increased by 7.31 percent to $327.4 million compared to imports of $305.1 million made during the same period last year, the data showed.
