The Union Minister of State for Textiles (I/C), Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, in his chamber in the Ministry of Textiles on Thursday launched the first e-auction yarn of National Textile Corporation (NTC) as part of its effort for greater transparency, efficiency and better price. Initially, three mills of NTC, namely, Vijamohini Mill, Kerala Lakshmi Mill and Rajnagar mill have been selected for selling of its produce through e-auction. NSEiT, a National Stock Exchange subsidiary that has been conducting e-auctions for various PSUs, has been roped in to conduct the e-auction of yarn.

The Jakarta Textile Museum to put on display 100 pieces of Timorese Tenun (traditional woven cloth) owned by private collectors and traditional cloth lovers in Jakarta at an exhibition titled “The Many Colors of Timor's Textiles. Asian PTA markers gained US$4 a ton CFR China in the last week of November.

In China, trading values of bonded cargoes were up US$3 a ton. Selling ideas picked up from US$600 a ton to US$615 a ton.

Yisheng Petrochemical’s offers were at US$602-605 a ton through the week while Hengli Petrochemical issued self-lifting offers in the range of US$625-630 a ton.

Purified terephthalic acid prices in Asian markets edged up on end-user and producer buying interest.

A delegation of jute mill owners urged the Bangladesh government to lift the ban on the export of the raw fibre in the wake of supply constraints in Indian mills.

Indian Jute Mills Association said that prior to the ban, a large number of contracts had been signed between Bangladesh raw jute sellers and Indian jute mills owners and traders.

Commitments about 50,000 tonnes of raw jute are involved in these settled contracts. The imposition of ban will result in non-fulfilment of this contract.

In China, offers for cotton-type staple fiber were stable at US$1.94-2.06 a kg while medium-length staple were at US$1.95-2.06 a kg in the last week of November.

Jilin Chemical Fiber maintained its list prices for November with 1.5D at US$2.06 a kg, 3D medium-length at US$2.05 a kg, tow at US$2.13 a kg and top at US$2.27 a kg.

Taiwan origin 3D bright ASF tow prices were pegged stable at US$1.65-1.80 a kg.

Acrylic staple fiber market sentiment was fair as downstream maintained hand-to-mouth procurement, but producers faced negative margins due to rising acrylonitrile cost.
