DyStar LP, the US subsidiary of DyStar Global Holdings to acquire five specialist chemical units of Emerald Performance Materials, US textile chemicals manufacturer for which it has entered into an agreement with Emerald Performance to expand the company’s reach and growth within the textile chemicals market.

Pakistan eyeing to increase annual exports to India to $1 billion within a year, as made-up textiles products and readymade garments have great potential to make their way to Indian markets, said Federal Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastagir Khan at a meeting of the Pak-India Business Council her of Tuesday.

The delegation was headed by Yawar Ali Shah who briefed the minister on their recent visit to India and outcome of the meetings held with the country’s business and trade stakeholders.

Saurer Schlafhorst a German textile technology firm is all set to present a new rotor spinning machine at the upcoming ITM 2016 exhibition in Istanbul. The ‘Autocoro 9’ claims to have rotor speeds of 180,000 rpm and take-up speeds of 300 m/min, as well as reduced spinning costs of 19 percent and reduced energy consumption levels of 25 percent.

The company will also be showcasing its ‘Autocorner 6’ winding machine with its updated features, including “intelligent sensor technology, smart process controls, auto-calibration and optimised processes”.

Asian MEG markers fell US$18 a ton CFR China and CFR South East Asia in the last week of April.

Mono ethylene glycol spot prices declined in Asian markets following aggressive selling of Yuan denominated swaps on the Huaxicun Commodity Exchange, which pressurized both physical forward and prompt prices.

In China, as commodity market swung significantly and demand for additional polyester saw end in late April, MEG market were less brisk, with prices falling.

Asian paraxylene prices gained US$16 a ton FOB Korea and CFR Taiwan/China in the last week of April.

Paraxylene spot in Asia rose on the week while May contract price failed to settle as negotiations ended in a narrow range.

Meanwhile, FCFC will restart its Ningbo PTA plant, which can spur demand for paraxylene in coming weeks.

In US, spot paraxylene market tracked higher Asian movement while interest to export to Asia remained open amid settlement of April contract prices. Spot rose US$15 a ton FOB USG on the week.

The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) is organizing a Pakistan Trade Caravan to display Pakistani products of interest in selected states from next week to expand the country’s export base and create linkage with other regional countries, especially with the Central Asian Republics (CARs).

The purpose of the Pakistan Trade Caravan is to increase export base, raise awareness on Pakistan and its products, provide opportunities for joint ventures, investment and brand franchising exhibition and composite display.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) during the ongoing budget exercise for 2016-17 is reworking sales tax structure on the five major export oriented sector which includes textile, carpets, leather, surgical and sports goods under SRO.1125. According to Tax experts, sales tax on five export-oriented sectors was declared zero-rated first time through Finance Bill 2005.

In China, semi-dull FDY70D/24F prices inched down US cents 2 a kg in the last week of April while FDY40D rolled over on the week.

Nylon DTY 70D/24F prices were flat while 30D/10F prices were stable during the week.

Monofilament 30D prices were steady while 1.5D staple fiber fell US cents 7 a kg.

Nylon filament yarn prices were mostly stable amid existing losses, with bright nylon yarn dipping, despite falling cost of caprolactum and nylon chip material.
Demand from downstream makers was still slow as they made little replenishment lacking fresh orders.

In China, liquid good offers were down US$85 a ton in the last week of April while solid goods offers fell US$25 a ton.

Asian markers, the SE and FE markers rolled over on the week. Fibrant announced April settlement which was down US$30 a ton from nomination for liquid goods.

Caprolactam prices fell in China that week on soft demand and despite recovering raw materials. Offers for liquid goods fell 5% on the week while mainstream values for solid goods were down 2%. Mainstream values for East European goods stood flat on the week.
