A common umbrella brand will be created for Indian Textile, Union Textiles Minister, Smriti Zubin Irani said on Thursday in a written reply to a Lok Sabha question. She further said that the Ministry of Textiles (MoT) has taken two major steps in the direction of promoting Indian textiles as a brand in international market. One is Annual Marketing Plan and second one is Annual Mega Event "Textiles India"

Polyester yarn price inches up in India, China

In Shengze, offers for 32s polyester yarn inched up US cent 1 a kg in the first week of July and 45s rolled over on the week. In Qiangqing, 32s weaving were also up US cent 1 a kg on the week. Offers for spun polyester yarns in China were stable to up buoyed by PSF prices that week, and the sales volume was flat on the week. Enquiring and trading sentiment was also flat. From late June, polyester yarn producers bought high cost PSF to replenish inventories in succession.

Yisheng Petrochemical dropped offer by US$5 a ton while Hengli Petrochemical issued self-lifting offer for bonded cargoes at Chinese main ports were also down US$5 a ton.

Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Adam Mohamed during a meeting with Iranian minister of Trade and Mining Mohammed Reza who is in Kenya seeking investment opportunity said that Kenya is particularly leveraging on Iran’s expertise in the textile and oil and gas sectors to develop strong local industries and seeks to enrich trade ties between the two countries.

The meeting is a follow-up of a memorandum of cooperation signed between the two countries during the 10th ministerial meeting of the World Trade Organization.
