A common umbrella brand will be created for Indian Textile, Union Textiles Minister, Smriti Zubin Irani said on Thursday in a written reply to a Lok Sabha question. She further said that the Ministry of Textiles (MoT) has taken two major steps in the direction of promoting Indian textiles as a brand in international market. One is Annual Marketing Plan and second one is Annual Mega Event "Textiles India"

Asian PTA markers, fell US$6 a ton CFR China and down US$5 a ton CFR Southeast Asia in the first week of July. In China, offers for nearby-month goods weakened, and counter offers were stalemated. Yisheng Petrochemical dropped offer by US$5 a ton while Hengli Petrochemical issued self-lifting offer for bonded cargoes at Chinese main ports were also down US$5 a ton.

Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Adam Mohamed during a meeting with Iranian minister of Trade and Mining Mohammed Reza who is in Kenya seeking investment opportunity said that Kenya is particularly leveraging on Iran’s expertise in the textile and oil and gas sectors to develop strong local industries and seeks to enrich trade ties between the two countries.

The meeting is a follow-up of a memorandum of cooperation signed between the two countries during the 10th ministerial meeting of the World Trade Organization.

Gelvenor Textiles from Courthiel Holdings, owned by German corporate investor Claas Daun which manufactures industrial, technical apparel, outdoor lifestyle, protective and aeronautical fabrics has been acquired by South African private equity firm Jacobs Capital.

The transaction includes a merger with South Coast-based MB Workwear, which will become a division of Gelvenor Consolidated Fabrics.
