Asian paraxylene prices inched down US$1 a ton FOB Korea and CFR China in the second week of July. Mixed xylene August CFR Taiwan cargo was offered at US$682 a ton, without attracting any buying interest. Paraxylene prices in Asian markets slipped on the week with the restart of Singapore’s JAC facility which may achieve on-spec operation by end-July. Meanwhile, India’s Reliance Inds has planned phased start up of its 2.25 mln ton a year paraxylene production facility from October onwards.

The Government has launched a pilot programme which will see hybrid cotton seeds from Israel tried on 500 acres of land in Bura, Tana River County that promise to cut production costs and offer investors better margins.

With the improvement in arrivals of seed cotton, prices remained under pressure on the cotton market on Monday, according to the dealers. In both Sindh and Punjab, seed cotton prices were at Rs 3000 and Rs 3200 per 40 kg, respectively.
The official spot rate continued falling trend, losing more Rs 200 to Rs 6,200, dealers said.
In ready business, around 20,000 bales of cotton changed hands between Rs 6400 and Rs 6500, dealers said.

Inditex, a Spanish multinational clothing company to team up with Lenzing to commit to the circular economy model in all phases of its production. It will be focusing on creating premium textile raw materials from its fabric scraps, initially involving about 500 tons of textile waste.
The collaboration is meant to kick-start a clothing collection campaign as well as a reuse and recycling programme for discarded garments. The aim is to raise this to around 3 000 tons within a few years, said Inditex’s chairman and chief executive Pablo Isla.

Caprolactum price rises on short supply and cost support
Asian markers, the SE and FE were up US$20 a ton in the second week of July. In China, offers for liquid spot were up US$15 a ton while solid goods offers were up US$15 a ton.
Caprolactum prices firmed up further in Asian markets on cost support and supply shortfall due to production cuts. Mainstream discussions for liquid and solid goods in China were up again that week while mainstream values for East European goods gained further amid slow liquidity and tepid demand.
