More weavers need to enroll under Mudra and Bunkar Bima yojanas

As the government was paying special attention to skill upgrade of weavers, loom upgrade, ensuring availability of good quality raw material and providing better access to credit of good handloom products. Arvind Kumar, Principal secretary (industries) said that the handloom and textiles department need to hold district-level meetings to ensure that more number of weavers are covered under Mudra Yojana.

Asian ASF markets remain ranged bound amid thin trading

Offers for Taiwan origin 3D bright ASF tow jumped US cents 15 a kg in the last week of August while regular specs were stable on the week. In China, medium-length staple fiber and cotton-type staple prices rolled over at US$1.81-1.90 a kg. PetroChina East China branch released September settlement prices for 1.5D ASF pegged at 12.45 Yuan a kg (US$1.90-1.91 a kg) and 3D tow at 13.60 Yuan a kg (US$1.94-1.96 a kg, down US cents 3 on the upper end).

US acrylonitrile price reaches 17-month high

In US, acrylonitrile export reaches 17-month high in the last week of August while pricing gained on persistent tightness in market. Spot supply will remain limited into Q4. Ascend Performance Materials will raise acrylonitrile and other intermediates prices by several cents from mid-September, it said a letter to customers. Export spot assessment was up US$15 a ton FOB USG on the week.

In Europe, acrylonitrile prices rose on support of downstream ABS markets and rising butadiene prices. European acrylonitrile was up US$15 a ton on the week.

The Vietnam Textile and Garment Association (VITAS) and Mexico’s National Chamber of Textile Industry (Canaintex) after the implementation of Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) expects the value of Vietnamese exports to double in 3-4 years to Mexico as tariff on Vietnamese goods exported to Mexico would fall to zero from the current 30 percent.

Canaintex representatives said that with TPP agreement coming into effect, Vietnam’s garment and textile exports will rise sharply and its market share in TPP member countries would increase substantially due to preferential tax policies.
