Asian paraxylene prices gained US$7-8 a ton CFR Taiwan/China and FOB Korea in the first week of September. Thus, the paraxylene-naphtha spread reduced to US$27.05 a ton on the week. Bids for mixed xylene also rose on the week.
Paraxylene prices rose week on week in Asian markets on higher upstream prices while the paraxylene-naphtha spread shrank on the week. Isomer-mixed xylene bids for November cargoes rose as crude futures shot up on Thursday.

Pakistan’s local silk units hit hard due to unabated import of Indian art silk through United Arab Emirates (UAE). Around seventy percent of the local units have been closed, leading to unemployment of thousands of labour, said President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF) Mian Zahid Hussain on Monday.
Mian Zahid Hussain said that art silk cannot be imported from India as it has been included in the negative list but authorities have taken little interest in stopping India exports through UAE which has almost killed their silk sector.
The cotton prices recovered slightly at cotton market on Monday due to sustained buying by exporters and millers as there are no fears of supply shortage going forward, dealers said. The official spot rate was slight higher by Rs 50 to Rs 5,950. According to the market sources, volume of business increased due to fresh buying interest.

Pakistan sees decrease in towel export by 16-20 percent plunging to $56.245 million in July 2016-17, according to official figures. Towel export fall stands at $10.874 million in July 2016-17 as compared the textile product's export of $67.119 million in July 2015-16.
In term of volume, towel export dropped by 23.43 percent or 3715 metric tons to 12,144 metric tons in July 2016-17 from 15,859 metric tons in July 2015-16.
