Asian PTA prices declined US$26 a ton CFR China and CFR Southeast Asia in the second week of March. Yisheng Petrochemical’s selling price dropped US$20 a ton while Hengli Petrochemical adjusted self-lifting offers by US$15 a ton.

Purified terephthalic acid prices declined further in Asian markets on lower sentiment, particularly in Northeast Asia. In China, May 2017 PTA futures on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange fell, capping a week that saw sharp falls by weekend close.

Taiwan origin 3D bright ASF tow offers were stable in the second week of March after jumping US cents 15 a kg in the first week. In China, medium-length fiber and cotton-type staple ASF prices rolled over during the week. Jilin Chemical Fiber raised its list prices for March by US cents 7 a kg.

Acrylic staple fibre prices generally rolled over after a huge hike last week on cost support. Although, acrylonitrile prices jumped further that week, ASF producers were cautious to raise offer for now.

Asian acrylonitrile prices gained US$20 a ton CFR Far East Asia in the second week of March while Southeast Asia was up US$40 a ton on the week. In China, offers for offshore cargoes were up US$40 a ton during the week while Indian ACN prices were flat on the week.

Acrylonitrile prices continued to increase across regions, with spot prices in Asian assessed higher from the previous week on firm demand and tightening supply. Taiwan's CPDC plans to shut its plant in end-March while Taiwan's Formosa restarted its plant on Monday.
