The 15th edition of Indonesian International Textile and Garment Machinery and Accessories Exhibition (Indo Intertex) to be held this April in Jakarta aiming to attract 9,000 visitors.

The event, themed "Productivity for Sustainability", will display the textile and garment machinery with the latest technology, vendors of raw materials, chemical laboratory equipment, digital textile printing machines and waste processing technology of 450 participants from 24 countries.

IT and Textile Minister K T Rama Rao reviewing the functioning of the Textile Department on Wednesday directed the officials to give the government subsidy to the weavers through Aadhaar and biometric system.

All the benefits would be provided to the weavers directly. In order to avoid the leakages, the government would soon link all the benefits to the Aadhaar and biometric system.

There would also be a directory at the state-level which would have the statistics like number of weavers, number of looms of the weavers, their production capacity etc.

Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) leaders during their meeting with a 40-member trade delegation from Kuching Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCGCCI) invited Malaysian investors to launch joint venture in Bangladesh.

Asian MEG prices declined by US$15 a ton CFR China and CFR South East Asia in the last week of March. Mono ethylene glycol market in Asia sobered opening the week but was under recovery later together with a range-bound trend.

In China, MEG prices dropped at first and then rose somewhat that week. At the beginning of that week, domestic prices kept declining and in the second half of the week, markets rebounded slightly in line other Asian markets. Asian paraxylene prices fell US$6 a ton CFR Taiwan/China and while FOB Korea in the last week of March. Major settlements for April contract price was heard cut.

Paraxylene markets in Asia were volatile that week with prices falling early in the week and regaining as crude prices recovered somewhat only to give back some gains weekend. Isomer-grade xylene extended losses amid lengthening supply. Major producers reportedly cut their April contracts from their earlier offers.
