More than 30 leading Italian textile machinery manufacturers to participate in International Garments, Textile & Leather Machinery and Accessories (IGATEX 2017) that will kick off tomorrow in Pakistan. This will strengthen the ties between the two countries, Pakistan and Italy in the most prolific sector, textile.

Such a large Italian presence makes IGATEX 2017 an appealing meeting point for Pakistani textile industrialists and operators, said Dr. Gianluca Robagotti, the Italian Consul to Pakistan.

Pakistan’s domestic production of cotton yarn and cotton cloth witnessed growth by 0.67 percent and 0.43 percent respectively during first eight months of current financial year as compared the production of the corresponding period of last year.

According the computation of Quantum Index Numbers of large scale manufacturing industries released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, cotton yarn production during the month of February, 2017 was recorded at 287,100 tones as against the production of 281,185 tons of same month of last year.

Indonesian textile and textile products (TPT) exports in the first two months of this year were valued at US$2 billion or 3 percent higher than in the same period last year as the TPT industry has been integrated from upstream to downstream sectors as a result they could compete well globally, said Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto.

In China, offers for ring‐spun 30s weaving yarn in Xiaoshan fell US cents 3 a kg in the second week of April, while compact siro‐spun 40s yarn in Jiangsu declined US cents 4 a kg on the week.

Viscose spun yarn prices continued to trend south in China and Pakistan as VSF prices fell further with no signs of bottoming out. In China, discussions for ring‐spun 30s yarn generally fell while siro‐spun 40s yarn were also cheaper. Core‐spun yarn market remained dismal, with the prices holding back.

In China, PC (65/35) 32s yarn prices rolled over in the second week of April in Qianqing, while 45s PC combed yarn prices were flat on the week.

Blended yarn prices generally rolled over depending on the change in fibre cost over the past few weeks. In China, a recovery in PSF prices supported PC and PV yarn markets while falling VSF prices helped recoup margins.

In Pakistan, PC and PV yarn prices did not change in the week, in line with the stability of raw material prices, excepting VSF prices.
