Frontier spinning mills to invest $6 mn at its facility in Elmore County

Frontier Spinning Mills, the second largest yarn spinner in the Western Hemisphere as part of its expansion project is planning to invest $6 million to add new, state-of-the-art fiber preparation and open-end spinning equipment at its plant in Elmore County. The project also involves the addition of warehouse space at the facility.

Robin Perkins, the company’s CEO said that they ares very pleased to announce this significant investment in the Wetumpka Plant. They appreciate the support of the Elmore County Economic Development Authority and the State of Alabama.

Viscose yarn price falls in Asia

In China, offers for ring‐spun 30s weaving yarn in Xiaoshan fell US cent 1 a kg in the third week of April while compact siro‐spun 40s yarn in Jiangsu declined down US cent 1 a kg on the week.

Viscose spun yarn prices edged down slightly thus stopping the wild south move seen in the previous weeks. Discussions for ring‐spun 30s yarn and siro‐spun 40s yarn remained at almost same levels. Core‐spun yarn market also went stable, with sales seen improving. With VSF bottoming, yarn prices are likely to go range‐bound next week.

Blended yarn price slightly drops in China, stable in India

In China, PC (65/35) 32s yarn prices edged down US cent 1 a kg in the third week of April in Qianqing, while 45s PC combed yarn prices were flat on the week.

Offers and trade price in China for blended yarn dropped slightly on the week given the downward movement in fibre prices. The reduction is also due to the current weakness in demand.

In India, blended yarn prices continued to roll over despite some fall in cotton and PSF prices in recent week.

Pakistan witnessed growth in towel exports worth $70.354m in March

Pakistan witnessed growth in towel exports by 15.78 percent during month of March, 2017 as compared the exports of the corresponding month of the last year. However, during first three quarters of current financial year exports of the towel from the country decreased by 3.18 percent as was recorded at 132,723 metric tons.

According the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, about 15,325 metric tons of towels worth US$ 70.354 million exported in month of March. During the period from July-March, 2016-17 towels worth of US$ 578.24 million were exported.

Sinopec to acquire BPs stake in SECCO Petrochemicals

China Petroleum & Chemical Corp’s (Sinopec) wholly owned subsidiary Gaoqiao Petrochemical based in Shanghai plans to acquire BP Plc’s 50 percent stake in SECCO Petrochemical for $1.68 billion. The deal is expected to close before yearend with the purchase price payable in installments.

SECCO is currently owned by BP, with a 50% interest, Sinopec (30%), and Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical (20%), in which Sinopec holds a majority interest.

VN garment exports see growth in first quarter of this year

Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani said that a conference on GST will be held soon to decide the rate, hinting that the textile industry is expected to have uniform GST rate, responding to pleas at a meeting of textile industries associations and stakeholders in Coimbatore, for fixing five per cent GST rate, the lowest slab for the industry.

The Minister urged the industry associations to give suggestions and views during meetings that will be held in different cities shortly. She also indicated that there might be a uniform rate across the value chain.
