Egypt’s cotton exports jumped by 63.9% during the first quarter of the planting season of 2016/2017, in the period from September to November cotton exports were 202,500 bales compared to 123,600 bales in the same period a year earlier, according to the state-run Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.

The country’s farmers and exporters said that Egypt’s famed cotton industry is starting to revive following a Central Bank decision to float the pound last November and a crackdown on false Egyptian cotton worldwide.

Mexico based denim producer Tavemex, makes investment in the Eco Denim Line to satisfy their customers who have been requesting them, more and more to use less water in dyeing and finishing, said Arturo Ornelas Elizondo, Tavemex’s Industrial Director.

Tavemex is the second denim producer in the world to install a Monforts Eco Denim Line, and the first to use the technology for finishing denim fabrics of up to 300 g/sqm. Tavemex completed installation of the Eco Denim Line early this year. The company now reports an 80% reduction in water usage after one month of operation.

In China, FDY70D/24F SD prices declined US cents 8 a kg in the third week of April while FDY40D also fell US cents 8 a kg on the week. DTY 70D/24F prices retreated US cents 8 while 30D/10F declined US cents 15 a kg on the week. Monofilament 30D prices were stable while nylon staple fiber 1.5D prices slipped US cents 15 a kg on the week.

Caprolactum price falls on weak upstream price

Asian caprolactum markers, the SE and FE softened US$50 a ton in the third week of April. In China, spot liquid caprolactum offers were down US$30 a ton at the upper end while solid goods were range-bound on the week.

Caprolactam markets were under weak fluctuation on the back of weakening benzene and energy complex while most players moved on the sidelines. In China, offers for liquid goods were down at the upper end of the range while solid goods offer remained unchanged. Offers from East Europe and japan origin were down amid slow liquidity and rigid demand.
