Nylon yarn price falls amid cautious buying sentiment

In China, FDY70D/24F SD prices fell US cents 3-7 a kg in the second week of May, while FDY40D fell US cents 3-15 a kg on the week. DTY 70D/24F prices also declined US cents 8 a kg and 30D/10F were down US cents 8 a kg. Monofilament 30D prices were stable while nylon staple fiber 1.5D prices fell US cents 10 a kg on the week.

Nylon filament yarn price decline continued, although slowly, on relieved cost pressure and cautious buying sentiment. Downstream converters maintained stable operation, implying rigid demand with bargain hunting activities.

Caprolactum price declines on low benzene values

Asian caprolactum markers, the SE and FE declined US$100-200 a ton in the second week of May. In China, spot liquid goods offer fell US$45 a ton while solid goods were down US$60 a ton on the week.

Caprolactam prices continued to remain under pressure on the back of flat to low benzene values and moderate demand. In China, offers for liquid goods in spot market fell further while values for East European goods softened amid slow liquidity. In contract, Sinopec further cut its May contract nomination while high end contract price for April remained unsettled.

PRGMEA urge govt to allocate Rs60bn for export industry

Appreciating the prime minister for announcing the Rs180 billion package for enhancing exports, The Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) has urged the government to allocate at least Rs60 billion for the export-oriented industry in the upcoming budget 2017-18 under the prime minister’s Rs180 billion package.

They have also asked for the release of stuck tax refund claims of exporters, including the drawback of local taxes and levies scheme, customs and sales tax rebate, etc.

The Khadi Village and Industries Commission (KVIC), an autonomous body under the ministry of MSME, has sent legal notices to four Indian companies and institutions for using the word Khadi in their brands or as a trademark in an energetic push bid to reclaim the brand for the nation.

Textile and garment exports target set to $45 bn for FY18

The country’s textile and clothing export target is set to $45 billion for the current fiscal, lower than the initial target of $48.5 billion set for the previous fiscal which was missed by a huge margin. Nevertheless the target for 2017-18 represent a 17 percent rise from the actual level of $38.6 billion in 2016-17, according to provisional official estimates.

Viscose yarn price weakens in China

In China, offers for ring‐spun 30s weaving yarn in Xiaoshan fell US cents 2 a kg in the second week of May, while compact siro‐spun 40s yarn in Jiangsu declined US cents 3 a kg on the week.

Spun viscose yarn markets were stable‐to‐weak that week as VSF prices retreated slightly in China and Pakistan that week. In China, discussions for ring‐spun 30s yarn were range bound while prices for Fujian‐origin siro‐spun 40s yarn were seen sobering. On the other hand, the numbers for rabbit‐hair‐like yarn 28s were stable.

Blended yarn price rolls over in China, India

In China, PC (65/35) 32s yarn prices rolled over in the second week of May in Zhejiang, while 45s PC combed yarn prices rolled over on the week. Although fibre prices weakened blended yarn prices remained unchanged as imported yarns were still costly for processors and fabric makers.

In India, blended yarn prices remained unchanged although exporters were cutting their offers in push volumes as domestic market was still weak. Cost support was also firm as PFS and VSF prices remained unchanged while cotton prices inched up.
