India Australia to boost tie ups in textile fashion clothing sectors

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the pact that will intensify cooperation in the field of textile, clothing, handloom and fashion between the two nations India and Australia at a meeting held in New Delhi.

Polyester becomes costly in India

In India, polyester yarn prices were hiked in the first week of June following the upward revision in PSF prices in early June. However, export have become uncompetitive with INR showing signs of strengthening against the US$. Polyester yarn 30 knit yarn prices were up INR2 a kg (up US cents 4) in Ludhiana market.

Polyester spun yarn markets in China were steady and offers for high-quality 32s yarn rolled over but demand was sparse as a whole. Offers went slightly lower amid lukewarm transaction in Shengze as buyers picked up volumes to meet immediate demand.

PTA price gains on high demand

Asian PTA prices gained US$9 a ton CFR China and CFR Southeast Asia in the first week of June. Purified terephthalic acid prices rose in Asian markets on strong fundamentals, higher demand and support from firming upstream paraxylene prices.

In China, PTA market showed strong performance that week, with average price up from previous week. Spot PTA supply was tight and the spread on offers and discussions between PTA spots and futures narrowed steadily.

ASF price rolls over in Asian markets

Taiwan origin 3D bright ASF tow offers rolled over in the first week of June, since it was last revised upward in late April. In China, medium-length fiber and cotton-type staple ASF prices rolled over on the week in Yuan terms but up US cents 2 due to weak US$.

Acrylic staple fiber prices were stable amid limited activities in Asian markets that week. Downstream demand saw no improvement, as yarn makers faced high inventory pressure amid slow liquidity.

Acrylonitrile price declines due to sluggish downstream demand

Asian acrylonitrile prices declined US$41 a ton CFR Far East Asia in the first week of June while CFR South East fell US$10 a ton on the week. In China, offers for offshore cargoes rolled over on the week.

Acrylonitrile prices fell in Asian markets from a week ago due to sluggish downstream demand and fall in raw material cost. In China, ACN spots remained weak during the week although demand improved a bit but remained sluggish in general amid sufficient supply in spite of recent outage of Qilu.

As both spinners and ginners remained cautious amid short supply, the cotton market on Wednesday stayed firm. While at the Karachi Cotton Exchange on Wednesday, no transaction was recorded. Spot rates also remained unchanged at Rs6,650/maund (37.324kg) and Rs7,127/40kg.

Ex-Karachi rates also remained firm at Rs6,785/maund and Rs7,272/40kg after an addition of Rs135 and Rs145 as upcountry expenses, respectively.
