ITMA Asia + CITME 2018 opens its online application for exhibition space

The sixth combined ITMA Asia + CITME exhibition to take place next year (2018) in the month of October has invited all leading textile machinery manufacturers from around the world to apply for exhibition space.

According to show owners CEMATEX and Chinese partners, the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT (CCPIT-Tex), China Textile Machinery Association (CTMA) and China Exhibition Centre Group Corporation (CIEC), the textile machinery exhibition is expected to draw a positive response.

Cotton trading on first day after Eid holidays remains firm

Eid holidays kept the activity of spinning sector dull while forward deals that have been matured before Eid change hands. Non-availability of transportation has been hindering the deliveries. During trading session after Eid holidays and on first day, the lint prices stood firm, traders at cotton market said. Around 300 bales changed hands.

The Karachi Cotton Association (KCA) spot rate remained intact at Rs 6,700 per maund with forward deals for better lint in focus, fibre traders said.

Textile business not going to be adversely affected with GST roll out

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) is not going to adversely affect the textile business. As presently, there is an embedded tax of central excise duties of 3.38% and 2.8% of VAT on cotton yarn, therefore, the slab of 5% tax placed on textile is not going to put additional burden on textile, said Manohar Lal Khattar, the CM of Haryana.

Moreover, the cascading effect would be mitigated with the event of the GST and the net effective tax on fabric would be minimal, he said at a seminar on GST for members of Legislative Assembly and officials in Haryana.

Polyester yarn price jumps in China

In China, offers for 32s polyester yarn in Shengze moved up US cents 1-2 a kg in the second week of June. In Zhejiang, 32s weaving yarn prices were also up US cent 1 a kg on the week.

Polyester spun yarn market in Shengze was stable to slightly higher as PSF prices rebounded somewhat in recent weeks. However, mills were cautious to replenish PSF as polyester market enters the traditional period in late June, when sentiment will remain stalemated.

In India, polyester yarn prices remained unchanged after the hike two weeks ago following hike in PSF prices then.

PTA price remains stable on thin trade

Asian PTA markers CFR China and CFR Southeast Asia remained unchanged in the second week of June. In China, discussions for nearby-month cargoes were down US$3 a ton on the week. In China, PTA market was under fluctuation, with Yuan-based prices up and US$ based value down from previous week. Taiwan saw increased demand for spot PTA due to lower operating rates in recent weeks.
