Major retailers are backing the Cotton Egypt Association’s drive to rid the supply chain of falsely labelled Egyptian Cotton goods. John Lewis and Dunelm, have spoken in support of CEA’s new rigorous accreditation process and ability to DNA test products, and say they will continue to insist suppliers adhere to the new standard. Manufacturers who do not meet the new criteria will no longer be licensed to produce Egyptian Cotton products or use the trademarked logo, the association explains.

Flex can be recycled using multilayer PVC recycling machine and the association has approached the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation and the Mayor has assured to provide land for setting up the plant in the Corporation limit. 347 lakh bales total cotton supply up to April 30, 2018 estimated by the Statistics Committee

The country’s cotton consumption for the 7 months from October 2017 to April 2018 stood at 189 lakh bales with an average of 27 lakh bales per month. Exports are estimated at 61 lakh bales as on April-end.The Statistics Committee of CAI has projected total cotton supply up to April 30, 2018 at 347 lakh bales. This includes market arrivals of 311 lakh bales and imports estimated at 6 lakh bales, the CAI statement said.
