Vans collaborate with Discovery, Inc., the American television corporation that owns Animal Planet and the Discovery Channel, to create a range of footwear, clothes, and accessories to assist Project CAT, Discovery's initiative to double the world's wild tiger population.
The “Comfy Cush Sk8-Hi,” which features a print of two tigers on the quarter panel, reflecting the grandeur and wild spirit of the magnificent cats, is the hero style in the Vans x Project CAT collection, which debuts this month to coincide with Global Tiger Day on July 29. The shoes' black and white typographic laces say "Protect Tigers," and the design is available in both adult and kids sizes, with a zip-back feature for toddlers.
The Vans traditional slip-on style for kids and toddlers also has a wild tiger with a fuzzy tiger design top, complete with fuzzy ears, and “Protect Tiger” messaging across the heel counters.
A recycled cotton mix T-shirt with a tiger's stare and the plea to "Protect Tigers" in the bold orange text is included in the kid’s fashion selection so that they can proudly show their support. A retro-inspired tiger illustration appears on another T-shirt, and a Vans x Project CAT pullover with printed logos on the chest and back, as well as a backpack, are also available.
Vans and Discovery will also contribute $20,000 to Project CAT's objective of conserving acres and ensuring a healthy habitat for tigers and other endangered animals for the foreseeable future.
Jessica Beatus, General Vice President of Standards and Social Good at Discovery, Inc, said that project CAT, which was launched in 2016, is committed to conserving the world's wild tiger population and actively seeks out collaborations with brands like Vans that share their mission, extending opportunities for consumers to show their stripes while helping the planet.
Beatus added that Discovery's devoted fans have always been active participants in this cause, and they are happy to provide them with a fashionable option to support Project CAT through their Vans footwear and clothing line.
