UGG has introduced a new version of its clog design, the Otzo clog, featuring an innovative wool lining made using technology developed by Nuyarn. The product combines natural fiber performance with enhanced durability and comfort.
The Otzo clog, launched earlier this year, features a nubuck leather upper lined with a wool jersey fabric produced using Nuyarn’s proprietary spinning technology. Unlike conventional ring-spun wool yarns, which can reduce some of wool’s natural performance characteristics during manufacturing, Nuyarn uses a twist-free spinning process that drafts wool fibres around a filament core.
According to the company, this alternative spinning method helps preserve the natural qualities of wool while improving overall performance. The resulting wool jersey is reported to be up to 8.8 times more durable than conventional ring-spun wool. It also dries up to five times faster and provides 35 percent better thermal retention, helping improve comfort in different weather conditions.
For the lining material, UGG uses wool fibers certified under the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS), which verifies responsible animal welfare and land management practices throughout the wool supply chain.
