Fashion for Good and Indian fibre developer AltMat have announced C&A and Zalando as the first brand partners to join the Altag Fiber Club, an initiative aimed at accelerating the commercial adoption of fibres made from agricultural waste.
Both retailers have committed to developing their first products using Altag, with Zalando participating through its private labels. Launched in June 2025, the club brings together brand demand and minimum order commitments to help alternative fibre developers secure the volumes needed to expand production.
AltMat describes Altag as a natural fibre produced from agricultural residues generated by food, medicinal and other non-textile crops. The initiative aims to address key barriers to wider adoption, including production scale, compatibility with existing processing systems and cost competitiveness.
C&A and Zalando will contribute technical requirements and feedback on manufacturing needs and consumer expectations to help align the fibre with their products and supply chains. Order volumes, product launch dates and the Zalando private labels involved have not yet been disclosed.
