The Renewal Workshop launches New Balance Renewed with New Balance

The Renewal Workshop (TRW), a developer of circular solutions for the garment and textile industries, has collaborated with an American footwear and apparel brand, New Balance for “New Balance Renewed,” giving their clothing a second life.

New Balance Renewed seeks to extend the life of defective or returned items, helping to keep them out of landfills while also providing customers with a place to shop for renewed, high-quality products.

Garments are sorted, graded, completely cleaned, repaired to like-new standards, inspected, and verified to agreed quality standards, through TRW’s proprietary six-stage, zero-waste process, and then granted a TRW certification. The impact of each item is calculated to illustrate to consumers how buying a New Balance Renewed product makes a real difference.

TRW co-founder Nicole Bassett said that bringing on iconic brands is a component of TRW’s partnership expansion plan. With this launch, New Balance Renewed establishes itself as a leader in renewing products and launching re-commerce in the athletic wear sector.

John Stokes, director of global sustainability for New Balance, said that in order to develop a great, long-lasting design, New Balance is always learning and refining its approach. During New Balance Design Week in April 2021, TRW held a session to assist educate designers on how to consciously design future garments for repairability and garment recycling. They’re keeping clothing in use for longer and learning how to design for circular with The Renewal Workshop.
